Is your child getting bored because schoolwork is too easy?

Is your child excelling in one or more areas of learning?

A learning assessment can help you to understand your child’s needs and move forward with confidence.

What is a Learning Assessment?

A learning assessment, often called a psycho-educational assessment, is a thorough evaluation of a child’s cognitive abilities, academic skills, and learning capacity conducted by a highly trained psychologist. It is used to identify if a child has particular strengths or struggles with learning and can result in a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) such as dyslexia (reading disorder), dysgraphia (written expression disorder), or dyscalculia (mathematics disorder). It is also used in determining if a child has an intellectual disability or exceptional cognitive abilities.

The Process of Assessment

Learning assessment is a detailed process but can be completed in approximately 6-8 weeks.

The process involves;

  1. A comprehensive parent interview
  2. An assessment block with the child
  3. Collection of additional information
  4. Collation of information and report writing
  5. A feedback meeting with the parents where the report and outcome of assessment is discussed
  6. Recommendations for ongoing support
