Ethan Pemberton

Clinical Psychologist Registrar

I am a Clinical Psychologist Registrar and have experience working both privately and within an inpatient hospital setting. I’ve supported individuals across a broad range of psychological challenges, from life transitions and relationship difficulties to complex trauma and severe mental health conditions.

I work with adults and adolescents who might be experiencing problems relating to:

  • Depression, anxiety, mania
  • Grief and loss
  • Role transitions
  • Relationships and family
  • Work-related stress
  • Self-harm
  • Personality disorders
  • Neurodivergence
  • Complex trauma & PTSD
  • Schizophrenia/psychosis
  • Identity issues and dissociation
  • Faith-based difficulties

My Approach

I take a gentle, open, and relational approach to therapy holding a deep respect for each person’s unique story. My aim is to understand not only the immediate struggles a person faces but also the broader narrative—one’s personality, history, values, and inner world.

I support individuals as they navigate the complexities of the social world, helping them make sense of their struggles, find relief, and connect more authentically with themselves and others. I’m committed to walking alongside a person as they move toward a life that is more sustainable, meaningful, and fruitful.

Treatment

My therapeutic approach is primarily rooted in a psychodynamic framework, however, I integrate elements of Schema Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) depending on what is best suited to the person.

Work days: Ethan is available at Lifeworks on Friday mornings.
