Gordon Smith
Counsellor
Gordon qualified with a Masters of Counselling degree from Notre Dame University in 2010 being awarded the Medal for his dissertation on counselling people of different generations
The challenges of fathering three sons sparked an interest in male psychology and led to over 20 years of facilitating men’s groups. Gordon has led counselling groups for men with prostate cancer, domestic violence groups, and co-ed personal development groups.
Gordon enjoys travelling alongside people as they journey through life’s hurdles, transitions and uncertainties. He has had deep experience being with those who have terminal or life threatening illness.
Gordon has been Chair of the Church Council of Mount Pleasant Uniting Church, has run many spiritual direction events, and is comfortable working with those whose faith is important to them.
Gordon owned a pharmacy for 27 years and still occasionally puts on the white coat to give wheatbelt pharmacists a break. He enjoys combining his two degrees when he lectures pharmacy interns, nurses, and 3rd year Occupational Therapy students on mental health, the psychosocial aspects of Men’s health, and Introduction to Counselling.
Work days: Gordon works flexible hours throughout the week.
